Good news KDrama and KPOP fans!
You won’t have to wish for Kim Shin (GOBLIN) to teleport you to South Korea anymore!
Get your passports ready as SOUTH KOREA has announced via Yonhap News Agency, that they are allowing Filipinos to enter their country without a VISA!
But before you scream and jump for joy, please note that there’s a catch….
Since there’s currently a tension between South Korea and China (i.e. security and political issues including the deployment of a US anti-missile system), South Korea’s tourism sector has been affected heavily, plus they want to boost the tourism performance of their hosting the 2018 Winter Olympics in PyeongChang, they are allowing visitors from 3 countries, namely the Philippines, Indonesia and Vietnam to enter their country visa-free PROVIDED THAT THEY ENTER VIA YANGYANG International Airport.
Yes, you’ve read it right. You need to enter the country via that specific airport. Not in Incheon, not in Busan… but in Yangyang International Airport. And take note, this is only until APRIL 30, 2018! *panicked screams*
The problem is, no airlines from the Philippines has a direct flight to Yangyang International Airport, or at least as of the moment, there aren’t.
Calling the attention of Philippine Airlines, Cebu Pacific and Air Asia!!! Please make a direct flight to Yangyang International Airport so we Pinoys can visit the land of Korean Drama, KPOP and Variety shows like Running Man!
If you really want to go to Korea visa-free any time, you can always avail of that via visiting JEJU ISLAND. The problem is, you can’t go anywhere else aside from that island since even if you land at Seoul or Incheon, you can’t go outside the airport even if it’s a connecting flight (bummer!) and you can’t certainly board a ship to mainland Korea where most of the Kdrama places and sites are. Double bummer!
Fret not, since DOTC is supposedly (as per ABS-CBN report) currently asking South Korea to accredit some travel agencies to make tours that will allow us Pinoys to have a more convenient way to pass through the regional Yangyang Airport so we can all have a chance to chase our Korean Drama dreams!
I just wish that South Korea would allow VISA-entry to their other airports as well because it seems a little useless for us if we’re only allowed the no-visa policy in just one airport (that our local airlines don’t even cater to). However, at least there’s a flicker of hope
Just a suggestion too, maybe there’s not a direct flight to Yangyang Airport in the Philippines but that doesn’t mean that we can’t make connecting flights right? To those who are desperate, maybe you can search for countries with a direct flight to Yangyang Airport and you can use our local airlines to go to that specific country to board a flight towards Yangyang Airport!
So, are you interested in going to SOUTH KOREA before April 30?
